Who I work with

Whether you come on your own, with your partner or as a family, sessions are shaped around you.

Individuals

A private space to talk through what is weighing on you, understand it a little better and find steadier ways to cope.

Often brought to sessions

  • Stress, worry and low mood
  • Big changes and difficult decisions
  • Relationships with family, friends and at work

What I can help with

Some of the things people often bring to counselling. If what you are facing is not listed here, you are still very welcome to get in touch.

Conflict and communication

When conversations keep turning into arguments, or into silence, and you would like to be heard and to listen differently.

Pre-marriage counselling

Time to talk about expectations, families, money and the life you want to build, before the wedding.

Trust and infidelity

A careful, non-judgemental space to make sense of what happened and decide what you want next.

Stress and burnout

When work, caregiving or everything at once leaves you exhausted, irritable or running on empty.

Anxiety and low mood

Worry that will not switch off, low energy or a heaviness that has stayed longer than you expected.

Grief and loss

Support after a death, a separation or another loss, at whatever pace feels right for you.

Parenting

Help with the everyday strain of raising children and teenagers, and with parenting as a team.

Work–life balance

Finding room for yourself, your relationships and rest alongside work and responsibilities.

How sessions work

Counselling is a conversation at your pace. This is what to expect, from the first message onwards.

  1. Reach outSend a short request or message. You only need to share as much as you are comfortable with.
  2. First sessionWe talk about what brings you here and what you would like to be different. You can ask me anything.
  3. A plan togetherWe agree how often to meet, whether online or in person, and what to focus on first.
  4. Regular sessionsSteady, confidential sessions at a pace that works for you.
  5. Review and next stepsWe check in on how things are going and decide together whether to continue, change the focus or pause.

Approaches I draw on

  • Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)Noticing the thoughts and habits that keep you stuck, and practising new ones.
  • Gottman-informed couples workPractical tools for how couples talk, argue, repair and stay close.
  • Emotionally focused therapy (EFT)Understanding the feelings and needs underneath recurring conflict.
  • Mindfulness-based practicesSimple ways to slow down and stay steady when emotions run high.

I adapt the approach to you. We will talk about what fits best in the first session.

Counselling is not a substitute for medical or psychiatric treatment. If you are under a doctor’s care, please continue it. Everyone’s experience of counselling is different, and no particular outcome can be promised.

Confidentiality and safety

Feeling safe comes first. This is how your privacy is protected, and when it has limits.

What stays private

  • What you share in sessions stays between us.
  • Your details are used only to arrange and provide your sessions. They are never sold.
  • I do not confirm to anyone that you are my client unless you ask me to.
  • In couples and family work, we agree at the start how anything shared one-to-one will be handled.

The limits of confidentiality

Confidentiality has limits. If I believe you or someone else is at serious risk of harm, if a child or vulnerable adult may be at risk, or if the law or a court requires it, I may need to share information with the right people. Wherever possible, I will talk to you first.

In an emergency

If you or someone you know is in immediate danger or thinking about self-harm, call 112 now, or the free Tele-MANAS helpline 14416 (24x7). This website and form are not monitored for emergencies.

Client words

Shared with each client’s permission, with details changed to protect their privacy. Everyone’s experience is different, and yours may differ.

We had stopped talking about anything that mattered. Meera helped us slow down and actually listen to each other again.

I came in not knowing what to say. I never felt judged, and I left each session a little clearer.

Questions people often ask

Cannot find your question? Ask me directly and I will reply in confidence.

What happens in the first session?

We talk about what brings you here and what you would like to be different. You can ask me about how I work, and there is no pressure to share more than you want to.

Do both partners need to come for couples counselling?

It helps when both of you can come, but it is not required to begin. Many people start on their own and invite their partner later.

Is counselling the same as seeing a psychiatrist?

No. I do not diagnose or prescribe medication. If it looks like a doctor or psychiatrist could help, I will say so and can suggest where to go.

How many sessions will I need?

It is different for everyone. We agree a plan after the first session and review it together regularly, so you always know where things stand.

Are online sessions private?

Yes. I use a private room and a secure video link. Choose a place where you can talk without being overheard, or use headphones.

What if I need help urgently?

This practice is not an emergency service. If you or someone you know is in danger, call 112, or the free Tele-MANAS helpline on 14416, any time of day.
